Worldly women converged on Greene Space, at 44 Charleton Street, for WNYC, New York Public Radio's first ever Lesbian Mixer on January 30th. WNYC Executive Editor Caitlin Thompson stirred things up with a group trivia activity and Claire Cavanah, co-founder of sex toy boutique Babeland, hosted a Q & A and handed out some very practical gifts. DJ Julie Whitaker, WNYC’s Social Media Editor, kept the beats rolling. This was a uniquely successful event, attracting singles and couples alike, who attended this event for a variety of reasons. “Like-minded women who are interested in world events” were there, said. Caren. “I wanted to check out the space,” maintained Meg, whose favorite WNYC offering is “The Brian Lehrer Show.” “I love lesbians!” exclaimed Leo, whose favorite show is “All Things Considered.” “WNYC speaks to the community,” commented Caitlin Thompson. And it’s a “convergence of women and gays having a total moment. Women run the world!” said Claire Cavanah.
