Last fall, Hurricane Sandy destroyed so much and the resulting downtown power failure derailed so many planned events, including the Eagle NYC, New York City’s leather bar’s annual Halloween party, but this year’s gala celebration went off without a hitch on October 31. DJs Damian and Nikko were responsible for the music.
The centerpiece of the evening was a costume contest, hosted with flair by Witti Repartee (who is New York Dowager Empress XXVI). She was scarily costumed as the Bride of Frankenstein and sang “(Give me a) Cool Rider,” from “Grease 2.” Some 20 colorful contestants were narrowed down to 10 semi-finalists, with the assistance of Messrs. Eagle NYC 2014 CeeJay Lyons and 2011 CB Kirby, and top winners were Oogie Boogie—villain of Tim Burton and Michael McDowell’s film “The Nightmare before Christmas,” according to Witti—all in burlap and awarded the $1,000 top prize; and sexy Spartacus and the Raven, after Edgar Allan Poe, netting the $350 and $150 second and third prizes respectively.
