The New York City Anti-Violence Project hosted the 17th Annual Courage Awards on September 26 at Studio 450, a gorgeous space in Chelsea, on West 31st Street, with a lovely roof deck and fabulous views. The Courage Awards honor those whose courageous work has the world a safer place for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and HIV-affected communities.
Honorees included pioneering African-American transgender actress Laverne Cox, from "Orange is the New Black," and writer Janet Mock, both recently featured in the new HBO documentary "The Out List."
