The festive Urban Bear Street Fair, which was held on Little West 12th Street, between Washington Street and Tenth Avenue, on May 6, was one of the climactic events of Urban Bear NYC Weekend, spearheaded by former Mr. Eagle NYC Robert Valin, and part of the proceeds went to Marriage Equality USA. Beside Marriage Equality, the LGBT Community Center, Modern Bear, Bear T-shirts and Bear Gear USA, My Lady’s Toys, Ruff Studio, and film sequel “Bear City 2” had booths.
Entertainment included live bands playing; Candy Samples singing Lindsay Lohan song “Sweet Scandal,” “If I had only left two shots earlier,” the world premiere of “Bear Season,” and a tribute to church potluck staple “Greenbean Casserole;” and a merrily messy pie-eating contest, coordinated by Mike Peyton.
Mr. MetroCub Heriberto Oquendo, Jr. and Mr. North American Bear Jed Ryan were among the current bear titleholders present.
