An auditorium full of striking leatherfolk, leather titleholders and other luminaries, and sexy models, in leather and in very little, for a good cause—what could be bad? All of these were present when Folsom Street East (FSE), which puts on the leather street festival of the same name during Leather Pride Weekend in June, and is celebrating its 15th anniversary, as well as its first year as a tax exempt organization, held its first annual leather and fetish fashion show, “A Fetish for Fashion,” coordinated by FSE’s Devin MacLachlan, at New York LGBT Community Center, on February 12, as a benefit for the Center.
Recording artist Sylvia Tosun, sporting a black rubber dress, and assisted by three hot, scantily clad, gyrating boy-toy dancers, kicked off the evening, singing, “Float away,” “World Keeps Turning,” and “Better run.”
Models representing the Leather Man strutted their stuff in everything from leather shirts and ‘assless’ chaps and shorts to spandex, including a red spandex singlet. ManSkins models showed off camouflage, fist-fucker red, and golden-shower yellow attire, harnesses, kilts, leather gloves, and even black fishnet hose. WonderWear NY, which dressed the dancers in the opening number, sent more guys in assorted fetching scanties. And the Eagle NYC Shop, the store at the leather bar, offered jockstraps, boots, and so on. Mr. Eagle NYC 2011 CB Kirby, in his sash and his gear for Braking the Cycle, the 275-mile, three-day bike ride, raising funds for HIV/AIDS services at the Center, and Torez, a masterful top, showing some of those boys who was the boss, were among the models.
The climax of the evening came when singer Sylvia auctioned off a glittery, hand-beaded jock, incorporating Swarovski crystals, modeled for ManSkins by comely Equinox trainer Bradford, with Scott, from New York, as highest bidder, winning not only the jock, but the privilege of stripping it off Bradford—now with his back turned toward us—for a donation of $500.
Among the others in attendance were Messrs. Eagle NYC 2007 Rick Weber and 2008 Peter Schwartz; Mr. New Jersey Leather 2008 Spanky; Messrs. Fire Island Leather 2001 yours truly and 2006 Master Tom; Eagle NYC owner Derek Danton; Leather Pride Night’s Lolita Wolf; erstwhile GMSMA President John Weis; Mistress Mir; reigning Empress XXIV Farrah Moans and other members of the Imperial Court of New York, including Rollerena and LaRubia Sucia; Darrell Perry of Darrell’s Dungeon; official Santa Saturday® photographer Mike Prestia; photographer Peter Lau; celebrity fashion designer Geary Marcello; photographer Robert Ordonez; and Andrew Harwin, formerly of FSE.
June 19 is the date of the Folsom Street East Leather Pride event, billed as “NYC’s sexiest street festival.” Visit www.FolsomStreetEast.org for further information.
