Joe Fiore and MetroBears New York hosted a fun and fur-filled pool party, billed as Drenched, at the Grace Hotel, in the Theater District, on January 9. At 12:30 a.m., a little more than halfway through the six-hour event, Joe estimated that approximately 250 bears and cubs were there.
Handsome DJ Josh Sparber played us music to frolic by, to dance to, and to sing along with. There were wet bears in the swimming pool; hot, sweaty bears in the steam room; more hot bears sweltering in the sauna; and bears drinking and socializing at the pool bar and upstairs bar.
Sexy dancers Jonny Mack and Justin gyrated. Other photographers from the gay press ("Next," "EDGE"); other party givers, looking for ideas; and activists like Brent Nicholson Earle (American Run to End AIDS, Out of the Darkness) were present.
The next Drenched party will take place on February 20.
