On October 30, after a year’s hiatus, the Eagle NYC, the Leather bar, resumed holding its popular Halloween Party, with a colorful costume contest as its centerpiece.
Hosts for the contest were Ms. Witti Repartée, who sang “I Put a Spell on You” and “The Time Warp,” and new Mr. Eagle Leather NYC 2022 Kenzo. Diego Vargas, Mr. Fire Island Leather 2007, as Aladdin, accompanied by a blue-faced and -torso-ed Genie and a prop lamp, won the contest and its top prize of $1,000, by audience acclaim. The shit-eating Divine Miss Piggy came in second, winning $350, and Sweet Jesus, his robe adorned with Sweet’N Low, Equal, and the like, came in third, winning $250.
Twenty contestants were reduced to 10, by audience applause. The ten were: the Riddler, Sweet Jesus, one of a pair of dueling Aquamen, Evil Woman, the Phantom of the Opera, the Queen of Hearts and Cheshire Cat, the Divine Miss Piggy, the Red Devil, the Bear Cub, and Where’s Aladdin?
Ten were reduced to five semi-finalists by a team of current and past Leather titleholders and the five were: Sweet Jesus, Phantom of the Opera, Queen of Hearts and Cheshire Cat, the Divine Miss Piggy, and Aladdin.
Also spotted were two Popes, a Pharaoh, assorted muscle bears in jock straps, devils, angels, the Statue of Liberty, Mr. Fire Island Leather 2019-2020 Bruce Michael Weitzmon, past Messrs. Eagle NYC Joe Macchia and Mike Jeavons, and the glamorous Amelia DuKane.
