There was no LGBTQ Pride March down Fifth Avenue this year, for the first time in 50 years, and the end of the alternative Queer Liberation March in Washington Square Park, with tear gassing by Sixth Precinct police—the same precinct responsible for raiding Stonewall in 1969— was what received most attention from the media. But photographer Paul Kimball, who has been chronicling Pride in New York City for a fair number of years, managed to find a gentler, colorful side to Pride, both personal and political, in the images that he captured in downtown Manhattan on June 28 and shared with Q News.
