Frankie Fioravonti, known as Frankie Cocktail, popular bartender of restaurants Lips, in New York City, and Top of the Bay, in Cherry Grove, Fire Island, passed away on February 11, in hospice at the Veterans Administration Hospital on East 23rd Street, after a long battle with cancer. A Navy veteran, born in 1954, Frankie wore a distinctive towering blonde ‘do’ as he worked, serving a devoted following, and was honored with the Bartender of the Year Award, “for his outstanding service throughout the LGBT community,” at the Bartenders Ball on October 19, 2014. Frankie will be sorely missed.
The wake for Frankie Cocktail Fioravonti will take place on February 18 from 2 to 9:30 pm at the Scarpaci Funeral Home, 1401 86th Street at 14th Avenue in Brooklyn. The funeral mass will take place on February 19 at 10 am at St. Frances de Chantal Roman Catholic Church, 1273 58th Street at the corner of 57th Street and 13th Avenue in Brooklyn.
