The Eagle NYC, the leather bar, held its annual Halloween Party on October 31, and devils and angels, leather bears and wolves, and “Wizard of Oz” characters, elaborately furred and feathered, abounded.
The centerpiece was a costume contest, hosted by Witti Repartée, garbed as Elizabeth Taylor as Cleopatra, and favoring us by singing “Everybody’s Girl,” from “Steel Pier,” and “The Monster Mash.” Twenty contestants were narrowed to 10, by audience applause. The 10 were pared down to five semi-finalists, by titleholders Mr. Eagle NYC 2017 John-John; Northeast Puppy and Handler 2017 Vidhra and Damien; and Mr. Fire Island Leather 2001 this writer. Top winners ultimately, by audience acclaim, were Munchkins the Lollipop Guild and Lullaby League, taking a $1,000 cash prize; the Red Devil, winning $350 as runner-up; and Batman adversary Poison Ivy, second runner up, awarded $200.
