Park Slope, Brooklyn was without its gay bar, Excelsior, for about a year, but owners Mark Nayden, Mr. Fire Island Leather 2012, and Richard Kennedy, DJ RDK, finally reopened Excelsior at its new location, 563 Fifth Avenue, between 15th and 16th Streets, on August 15. The new bar has two floors, with a cabaret license in addition to its liquor license, and an outdoor patio. There's a stage upstairs, so expect shows by singer Lavinia Draper and others. An official grand opening is slated for mid-September.
